Who is Steven Cousley?
I am a descendant of the Wiradjuri people. I am a father, a husband, a baker, an artist. I have been a manager, a salesman, a financial consultant, a computer technician.
I am and have been many things. There is more to come.
In the early part of my life I recieved a typical Australian education, with very little regard for the original people of this great land. I am learning about my culture, my heritage and I am sharing my learning through my art.
I was born, grew up and still live in Wiradjuri country. I am now discovering my Aboriginal heritage. Through research, through talking with other aboriginal people, by exploring the work of other aboriginal artists and story tellers, I am learning more about myself and my people.
This site will show some of what I have learned. My paintings are mostly in a contemporary Aboriginal style, otherwise known as urban Aboriginal art. I paint from the experiences of my lifetime.
This is my dreaming.
